Just a heads up...I decided to get out and do a little fishing while I was in MT and got hung up in traffic.
Man, talk about herd mentality!

It was worth it in the end though.

Water temps were still low and we lost clarity as the day progressed but
all in all a good day with a few nice fish to hand for both of us.

We came thru yesterday with some pretty good snow squalls and high wind across the state.
The worst one was east of Livingston with several cars in the ditch.

Yeah, the people here in Montana really don't know how to drive in the snow. It's hit the gas and see how far you can spin your rig

Jim. I thought Montanans were bad until one Thanksgiving I spent near Silverdale, Washington and they got a bunch of slushy wet snow. I pulled one guy out of a ditch. He said to me, "Thanks, I guess I thought I was good since I have a 4-wheel drive truck." My reply was, "Four wheel drive doesn't mean four wheel stop."

The real problem is that Montana makes you drive 80 mph on the freeway.

Population on the exponential rise in SW WA...Municipalities never met developers they didn't love...damn the roads...to and from rural developments...Sheriff and police depts are not increased to accommodate... Speeding tickets what the hell is that? Speeders everywhere...when a discussion comes up about speeding and crazy driving, blind passing all that stuff invariably the responses lean to folks driving slower...I am becoming a curmudgeon...i admit it in my not in a hurry , leave in time, in my 23 year old 4 banger tiny pickup. Snow? we have it once in a while...Immigrant residents from CA freak out in their $70,000 big arse SUV's...It's entertaining and scary driving here... Ah the yin and yang of life...

That's just the top speed. There should be a minimum speed like they have in S. Dakota. Nobody makes you drive 80. I drive about 75 or 70. You slow down when you get older. Probably because you want to live longer.

We got a big snow dump one winter while I was living in Bremerton back in mid-70's. I rented a garage & hid my sports car until it melted. Now THERE were a bunch of people who had no clue in snow!

Driving in winter in Montana is easy; just follow the snow plow.

Anyone that spends 20 plus years driving to work and parking in downtown Portland OR gets parking tickets...speeding? close but no trophy...but I have probably deserved a few.
