and got the skunk. I think everyone did, at least between 830 and noon. One guy had a hit and snapped the tippet when he set the hook. I had what had to have been at least a 22" fish swim lazily over to my white bugger, only to scoff and turn away at the last second. Plenty of fish surfacing, a few jumping clearly out of the water. Surface temp was 40 degrees, air was 48, it was overcast with light drizzle on and off. Might be going again tomorrow, so maybe the luck will be better.

Did you at least have a blast? If they look it over but pass, change up and show them a different size, color or pattern. They are looking, you're starting to tempt them. Get back at it! If you see Nick you might want to give him some space. I've heard he's rivaling my skunkiness....

Oh BWO, got it now. Didn't see anyone using that. 3 guys appeared to be using chironomids out in the middle. I did have a great time though, gotta get out at daybreak next time while they're still cruising the shallows. Doesn't look like tomorrow is gonna happen, unfortunately. Flu symptoms, yeah.........

Aye, it has been rather skunkalicious around me lately. Though to be fair I haven't been out in some time. I stopped by Peninsula Outfitters on the way home from work this afternoon to pick up a few flies and ended up picking up a Lamson Konic for my BIIX 5 wt. So now I am most certainly going to be on the water tomorrow with my new toy.

BWO = Blue Wing Olive
I beg your pardon for the cryptic question. I was asking because I have never fished Blue Wing Olives in a lake but I have read a great deal
about the bug and fishing it in rain and early morning. It was a sign of my ignorance.

I have a deep seated desire to fish this lake at some time in the future.

to olive bugger: copy all. let me know if you need a fishing partner, we'll go hit the lake some time in my boat.

to everyone : went back out there today. MtnWkr met me at the launch at 730 and we began what ended up being 4 1/2 hours of numb fingers, frozen faces, hot coffee, and no fish. we really did just about everything except dry flies. Started casting buggers and leeches around the edge of the lake, nada. Saw several jumping all around the lake, so we switched to trolling. 3 different patterns one behind the other on each of our rods, trolled for a while, nada. Decided to switch to chrionomids under a strike indicator for a couple hours, nada. Last pass around the edge of the lake, josh FINALLY hooks up with a nice bow, about 16" long. Got him to the net, snapped a pic and let him go. He wasn't very worn out at all. we both had a couple followers after that but nothing more, called it quits around 1245. Great day on the water, though i think i'll sleep in a little bit next time before i head out.
