I just purchased a previously used HMH tube fly tool kit. Included was a tool/piece I'm not familiar with...but it appears to be a tube tying adapter. It's on the right in the photo. HMH large plastic tube material is a perfect fit at the tip. The only threads I see on the unit are in the brass hole on the side, which would seem to hold a set screw. No threads are in the silver/nickel end.,,so I'm not clear on how it is to be attached to a vise...or what vise it was made for. Any ideas?

Chris,
No idea how to use that.
I have the same tube adaptor but that part didn’t come with mine.
I’ve found their customer service to be very helpful.
Might be worth send them a pic or giving them a call regarding that part.

The grey part in the plastic bag is their “any vise” adapter. The flat plate is held in the jaws of the vice. The larger round item in the left upper corner looks like an old version of the adapter for the HMH vise body. This would slide into the body in place of the jaw. I assume the set screw would then hold the needle in place. Mine is a collet type design, but looks to be about the same size/shape otherwise.

My cousin gave me a huge bag of brand new tube stuff, never opened and covered in dust. Same package, that extra tool is a mystery. He even gave me a VHS tape with it and other info about all about it. LOTS of tubes and stuff, said it was all probably 20 years or more old

He is a famous tyer that was given this stuff at a show years ago, and he said he never tried it once. I'll play with it sometime, there are literally hundreds of tubes of various sizes and materials, the video is still wrapped in plastic, even, never watched.
