I'm planning to explore not-so-well-known parts of Green River to seek for some solitude (and maybe some undisturbed steelhead )
Gorge between Kanaskat and Flaming Geyser state parks and upper stretches upstream from Kanaskat (way up to the Tacoma Headworks dam)
Is it a good time to go there? Any advices appreciated
p.s. I have only 2 choices: 6wt sinktip and 5wt floater

i use dry flys this time of year big paterns 1/0 or so in size i have done well picking up big trought some steelys and salmon last sommer an soon this summer

Fish till ya drop.
Then suck it up
and fish the evening hatch.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there are NO not so well known parts of Green River. There is a small summer run in the river now...it's small enough you need some Luck to catch one or two. The River below the Knasket area is the best bet for solitude especially early mornings.

You're right. Where the trail goes there people are
But most fishermen are lazy and don't hike too far away from parking spots.
I hit the Green early morning today before my work. Met one guy fishing with gear. He told me he hooked a steelhead yesterday. The pools looked very nice but I didn't find any presence of steelhead. Instead there was some decent trout action near the rapids and the one I hooked was 12-incher.
