Found this piece of meat on the Evening Hatch site. Original called for moose body hair for the wing; the deer I had is very close in color and a hell of a lot easier to work with for this application.

hook - TMC 5212 #6
thread - Danville 6/0 brown
tail - red fox tail
rib - Uni-stretch yellow
abdomen - 2mm foam brown
wing - deer hair dyed dark dun/fox tail butts
legs - Sili Legs speckled brown
hackle - grizzly/brown

mash barb/start thread at 3/4 mark; wrap to bend

clean, even tips, measure (shank length) a clump of fox tail; tie in, wrap to 3/4 mark

clean, stack, measure (2x hook gap) a clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in

tie in rib

tie in foam strip (2mm x 2mm); wrap to 2/3 mark, tie off/trim

counterwrap rib; tie off/trim

pull wing up, set angle with thread dam in front

separate with x-wraps; post wings with a few wraps at their base

tie in legs

tie in hackles

wrap hackles, tie off/trim, whip finish, SHHAN

trim fox tail butts, trim legs

Regards,
Scott
