What the heck is going on out in Pullman with the WSU football coach and athletic director? Coach Leach is claiming the Pullman Police Department is "targeting" his players because 4 of them were involved in a brawl that was filmed by someone there on a cell phone. It sure looks like from these comments of Leach's that he doesn't think his players should be charged for their crimes of assault. Leach is claiming the Pullman police are unfairly targeting his players and even went so far as to tell the press this and demanded the police chief have a meeting with him and the athletic director Bill Moos because of this "targeting" of his players.
Give me a break, 4 of his players assaulted others and were arrested with the police recommending the prosecutor charge them with their crimes. Heck, one of the victims has a broken jaw caused by defensive lineman Toso Fehoko (not a small man by any stretch of the imagination) and another victim was knocked out by defensive tackle Robert Barber (another rather large and strong fellow).
Here there are 4 of his players, granted they are key players for his team, but nonetheless, they committed criminal assaults on other, most likely much smaller and less strong individuals and it is obvious Coach Leach doesn't want them charged for their crimes. And Althetic Director Moos says it is up to Coach Leach if these players who have been arrested play in today's game.
Where is the outrage about this? Here we have a coach of Pac 10 team making such outrageous comments, demanding the meeting with the chief of police of Pullman to put an end to this "targeting", instead of benching the players (or kicking them off the team) and the athlectic director of WSU is backing this. Crimes were committed, the crimes were captured on cell phone video, and still Coach Leach wants to just brush it under the rug and have everyone look the other way. Perhaps it is time for Leach and Moos the be fired for this outrageous behavior.
What lesson is this teaching the players who committed the crimes? What is this teaching and telling the kids in high school and middle school other than if someone is a good athlete, he or she can get away with criminally assaults!
Where is the outrage in the press, media, and among sportswriters for these actions and comments from Leach and Moos?
