Just received a phone call from a research firm on behalf of WDFW, said I was randomly selected from a pool of people who had purchased saltwater licenses for the 2016 season. They asked me how many days I'd fished in the saltwater and then were very specific about how many days I fished in November and December. They were asking exact dates, hours I fished, marine area, closest landmark, plus species targeted. It was so specific and I eventually I had to give up because I don't remember exact dates, locations, and time I fished back in November.

Any one else get one of these surveys and/or know what they're doing them for?

I'm not too concerned. They didn't ask for any personal information and I wouldn't have provided it if they had. It seemed legit to me. Was just curious what the survey was for.

I did the same survey a couple months ago. From the questions they asked, I was under the impression they were trying to get a feel for how the salmon closures impacted time spent fishing saltwater and what species were targeted.
