I've spent more for less. My only complaint about my fishing license is that I have to trim it down considerably so it fits in my wallet, and that damn parking sticker that I'm supposed to remember to hang from my rear-view mirror every time I park in a WDFW public access is retarded beyond belief.

just be thankful your not a hunter... just did the math for my upcoming privilege to hunt and fish in washington reciepts... I hope they use lube this year when they bend me over the counter when I buy my licenses, of course that will probably cost extra.

Are they printing it on that sh*tty paper still?
they really should do something different with the catch record cards (not that they ever use them after we send them in.. but still). if you're marking a catch record card after you catch your fish, which you are supposed to be doing, your hands, and subsequently your license, are wet and it's impossible to write on it. i had multiple times where i had to wait until i got home to record my catch, especially when it was raining.

Oh well, $8.00 for my license for fishing and if I need a warm water stamp it is free to old people. If I was to hunt here I would have to pay for a deer stamp only(10 bucks) because I already have the Conversation license. Elk and Moose or Bear costs a little more but not enough to break me.

Exactly, the clerk tried to scan mine but it was too worn out. BTW, besides the extra $8 , I was advised that there is now a fine for not mailing in your catch card.

Yup. I noticed that new tax on Salmon and Steelhead also, I didn't bother with it though. It's the beggining of the pay to play society. The way I figure it, I already bought a license, why the hell do I have to pay extra to fish for a certain fish in a particuliar water system that is in the State that I have a license to fish in. Besides, encounters with the warden are an extreme rarity (as has been discussed before).

Shit. Just add the stuff for shellfish and the two fishing poles for stillwaters and the license will be above $100.

The last three years I bought combo licencses luckily they were all senior citizen I never got to fish basicly, due to illness. Last year my sister visited and we bought her a 2 day lic. and we went to the Little Natches for practice as i was trying to show her how to fly cast. We didn't catch anything but we did see one fair sized fish. the next day we went to the Park on the North side of Riffe Lake and the practice was better but saw no fish. it was hard for me to help her much because I wasn't able to climb the banks on the Lilttle Natches and I barely was able to walk down the grass to the lake. she's not dicouraged shes coming back in June for another lesson. She's looking forward to fly fishing the beaches so she can fish them by Santa Barbara. She called yesterday and said the state of WA. is threatening her with jail and a fine unless she turns in her catch record. and what if they won't give her a chance to fish in June. Mine this year only cost $23.50 with the Columbia basin deal but we're trapped the way the river winds around the state as almost everything drains into it. I'm sure hoping I can get down to he water this time. OH.What a tangled web they weave!! Ooops I didn't think to ask could she use my second rod with the second rod option? especially if I'm not useing the first rod

There isnt a single day of the year you couldnt fish if you chose. You can hunt the most liberal waterfowl season in the country, with some of the best public options out there. The big game hunting is tough but there are quality opportunities amid the decreasing numbers of animals. We have 3 subspecies of turkey and as wide an array of upland birds as you will find anywhere in the country.

I;m going to pay for a better opportunity than most get and be thankful for it (while it lasts)

Because otherwise all these rivers could be closed. The Columbia and its tribs have several endangered species and if we want these rivers to be open, certain conditions must be met before NOAA will even allow any season. Therefore, WDFW has to spend extra money to meet the NOAA requirements in order to allow us any kind of fishery. That extra money has to come from somewhere or WDFW will not be able to allow fishing on the Columbia and Tribs. With the budget problems right now, that is a real possibility. So who better to get the money from than people who want to fish it? Like shellfish, crab, saltwater fish, etc., if you want to use the resource, you pay. If you don't want to pay the extra money for the privilege of fishing over endangered species on the Columbia and tribs, fish elsewhere.

If it were up to me, everyone would have to pay a lot more money and attend a mandatory class so they completely understand the situation over here. I see so many anglers who have no idea what the regs are on this system or if they do know the regs, they violate the very regs put in place to protect this fishery and try to keep it open all the while bitching about how stupid it is when they actually have no clue what is going on. Through their ignorance and disrespect, they could inadvertently get all fishing closed for everyone on the Columbia and/or tribs.
