Aloha, fished wee guys tourney in kona for two days. Had several small marlin knock downs but only landed this spearfish. Nice water and good company. I have another tourney in Hilo this weekend, maybe better luck in home waters. Hope you all have a good fourth, Mems

Is that the small boat light tackle tournament? I would fish that tournament series as a kid every year. Not every tournament was light tackle but I believe the series was for smaller boats. I had to jump off the boat once to get rid of bad luck. We won that tournament.

Thanks guys, Wee Guys is a small boat tourney, under 23foot. Most use conventional tackle. I would love a light tackle, fly fishing tourney. We had 130 boats in this tourney. It is a crazy shotgun start. Congrats on winning the tourney. We just like to fish Kona with friends.

Looks like you guys had some nice water conditions.

I have a lot of fun memories from fishing those small boat tourneys in Kona. The light tackle one they had was probably my favorite. Nothing like the craziness that ensues on a boat when hooking a bigger marlin on 15-30 pound test (can't remember what that max line size was), compared to the traditional 60-80 guys normally fish.

Thanks again for sharing Mems. Your posts always bring back some good memories I have from fishing Kona as a kid.
