Your steelhead fishing has been open over a month now in the NW but I see no steelhead pictures. I was hoping to see some monsters

I posted a pic of a steelhead in swimmy's thread. Well, part of one at least.

I won't take a pic when fishing alone. Wild fish get the deep water release and hatch rats get the throat rip right away. Who wants to see a pic of a dead fish?

When I fish with friends I usually go through after them. Did pick their pocket a couple times but didn't bring them all the way in.

Besides, we all know there is no such thing as a fly caught steelhead anymore...they are like a guilty man at shawshank...

Really? I've been clobberin' em on every outing: 20, 25, 30 lbs., and one that I estimated at 40 1/2 pounds. But being a frail old man, none of my photos were better than crooked blurs.

Same guy who was hounding the thread about $2000-$4000+ Saracione and Bogdan fly reels.

No wonder our group of flyfisherman are known as snobs.

Guess they were teaching "which classic Gullwing Mercedes from Daddy's collection to drive" that day in class at the private brick school, instead of "commoners English"...

Busting your balls, SMYSNYDER : )

Rolf's river runs muddy during hot weather. Most consistent fishing is after mid September but then it's bumper boats from Yakima.
I found a picture of the last one I caught three years ago.....

Not sure where you got your info, but not all NW rivers have the same steelhead season. All of my steelhead rivers closed at the end of March and won't reopen until the fall. Therefore, no pics as I is not fishing illegally.

Yesterday morning when browsing through my wardrobe of swimmy-inspired pastels, I came across my Brett Favre jersey and had a moment of reflection. Could I do the same? Could I also come out of retirement? After a brutal twelve seconds of mental anguish, I came to the conclusion that @SMSNYDER has been bullying us PNW steelhead bros for too long. This adfluvial rainbow chaser must be squelched.

I dusted off my box of hairwings, brought out the dry line, and decided to hit the Skykomish. Obviously what happens next in this sweet tale of redemption is a foregone conclusion:

Water Vertebrate Fin Fluid Mammal

If you happen to be driving along highway 2 do yourself a favor and turn off the radio, roll down the windows, and listen closely. Is that Andrea Bocelli? Close, but not quite....its just the echoes from the sweet sound of a fresh native steelhead pulling on a hardy mixed in with a hambone call -- the call that freed us all from the tyrant known as @SMSNYDER
