I'm curious if anyone here can give me a performance comparison between SA's Sharkskin Line and the Airflo Ridgeline. I've cast a Sharkskin in a 5 weight and it really surprised me as far as it would cast. But the $100 price tag has me puckered up. Can anyone here give me a comparison between the two lines?
Thanks Ahead,

I have 2 Ridgelines, one is the Presentation andthe other is Distance. can't say they cast any farther than my Rio Steelhead line, or even as far; Hell, I didn't get them for that. I will say they seem to have less memory and the older one, approaching it's 4th year, is still in good condition. I do think Airflo makes a "Distance" taper, as do all the mgfr's. It's not my thing..........

I've collected a few sharkskins from people who bought them and then sold them when they ate into their hands or drove them nuts with noise. I have two single handed airflo ridge lines in the same line weight as a sharksking. One is a 4, the other is a 5. I fish the airflos first, love the ridge line and can cast the sharkskin maybe 10' farther...maybe. As I replace worn lines I'll be doing so with airflo ridge lines. The sharkskins fish great too, but the price point is a stretch.

OM - he did not ay you could get a guided trip for $40, said to put the money towards lessons for a trip.

Redoing my trout rods, so will know more in a week or two. But have fished both. Ridge is nice and their sixth sense is recommended also (have not tried yet). I did purchase a sharkskin. It does cast well. I had a magnum taper and really did not think it mended any better. The noise was not a deal breaker but was annoying. My main two problems was the line did collect dirt, you could see it but hard to clean. Secondly, the tip sank, but then sometimes this big belly would sink line 6 feet from the tip. Finally sent it back for a warranty replacement. So not sure I would spend $100 again.
