I'm going to be spending the next 3 days on Whidbey Island. Renting a house on Mermaid Lagoon in Greenbank. Any recommendations via pm on fishing in the area would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if there will be much that far north.

My gf will be with me as well so I'm planning on fishing in the am and exploring the island in the afternoon and dinner /brewery in the evening. Any recommendations on good eats and drinks is always appreciated.

The old tavern in Coupeville. Great fish and chips. Fort Casey is fun if you've never been there.
Not to be morbid but the Coupeville cemetery is interesting to visit to see some old grave sites.
Captain Coupe namesake of Coupville is buried there. Some of the graves date from the 19th century.

Nate, the tavern in Coupville is called "Toby's". Outstanding Penn Cove muscles too.
A must see place. There are miles of beach access at Fort Casey and South of the Coupeville ferry at the Wildlife refuge. If You have a tube along, you're just South of Pass Lake, and just North of Lone Lake. Enjoy. Also beach access at Deception Pass State park. Enjoy.

Do you remember the Krueger family plot? I heard they removed it years ago due to partyers and vandals.

@DBP honestly no. My Great Grandparents Ronald and Mabel Race and other long departed relatives are buried there. Race Lagoon was part of their homestead. My Grandmother was raised at Race Lagoon and rode her horse to school in Coupeville.
There still is a cabin at the lagoon that my grandpa built in 1930 that my aunt owns now.
I find it fascinating that people who settled Whidbey born in the late 1700's and early 1800's are buried there.

Well, wait for it. . . there was a family of four from I believe around 1850, with a son who was one Frederick Kreuger. It was there in '88 when I reported to NAS Whidbey, and twice while I was stationed there it was vandalized. The sister's grave was Amanda, which I believe was the name of Freddie Kreuger's mom in the movies. Weird. Was in a little area sectioned off by a low stone wall, maybe 1 foot high.

I'm not familiar with Race Lagoon. Is that the one on the waterfront road between Oak Harbor and Coupeville?

Wow that's pretty freaky.
Race Lagoon is on the east side of the island directly east of Fort Casey and the ferry landing on Race Rd.
