Several years ago I posted a query here about people's favorite whiskeys. At the time, whiskey love was fairly new to me. That thread led me on a journey of self discovery that can only be described as spiritual. A lot has changed since then; other countries have entered the whiskey foray, and strongly, and cask preferences have become less traditional. I think it's time to ask again, what's your favorite whiskey?

Here's my preferences, which change often, as well as some whiskey porn:

Hibiki Suntory
Lagavulin
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Makers Mark

Bottle Drinking establishment Wine Barware Glass bottle

Ah, it'll get better (or worse). I have quite the liquor cabinet. I do favor scotches, but do love Irish and Bourbon too. Have a pretty good selection of whiskies.

BTW, this is just my Scotch, have added a few more bottles since picture was taken. Emptied and replaced a couple too.

Lagavulin by far. Pricey but worth every cent and I savor every drop! It's my go to Montana fishing trip scotch. It never makes it to the last day.

I was jealous of your trip to the isles man. Definitely a bucket list item for me, and that Talisker is probably my second favorite Scotch.

I'm traveling right now (Munich) and on the way out of SeaTac I picked up one of my new favorites. I've developed a liking for Bulleit Rye, so I grabbed a bottle at duty free on the way over. At the house I've got a few bottles of 16 year Balvenie, a nice Middleton, Whistlepig, and a Macallan. After never being a whiskey drinker, I've found myself sampling more and more over the last 10 years.

I've never gotten in to Scotch too much, and drink mainly American whiskey. I tend to stay in the $20-35 (shelf price) range because I think it offers the best balance of quality/price. Some of my favorites are Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig (9 or 12 year), Bulleit Bourbon/Rye, Old Grandad, Makers, Four Roses Small Batch, Eagle Rare, Heritage Batch 12, Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, 1792....really the list that I dislike would be much shorter. :D I also throw in a bottle of the following occasionally: Bushmills, Monkey Shoulder, JW Black Label, etc.

I'm definitely a drinker, not a collector. I know too many people who buy tons of whiskies just to stare at them. Some bottles drain quicker than others.

I've been to Scotland several times. Mostly to fish actually and how I first was introduced to Scotch. I actually can't stand Islay and Island whiskies. Our trip was actually no fishing and experiencing Scotland and Ireland. I never got a chance to see much outside Edinburgh area up into outer Speyside when I was doing fishing trips. Loved Isle of Skye, just can't drink Talisker lol.

I like the way less peaty ones. Lagavulin tastes like a bog imho.

I know lots of people who love it though!
I can't drink it either. I'm pretty much straight Speyside whisky and some misc Highland/Lowland whiskies.

My scotch regulars are Oban 14, Glenlivet 12, Tamdhu 10, and Cragganmore 12.

I do love Irish whiskies and bourbon. I really love the Jameson Gold Reserve, Midleton Very Rare, and the Powers John Lane.
