As far as I'm concerned, my fishing is all about having a great time on the water catching fish, while being quiet and respectful. When I want to party down and make some noise, I head to the surfing beach! Sometimes there's old acquaintances sitting on the bench up on the berm, and we put a few back while watching the groms and rippers perform their antics.
Ahh...I fondly recall the Summer on Oahu back around 1970 (give or take a year) when the Dept of Parks and Recreation would actually sponsor local rock bands to play on the lawn just behind the berm at Sandy Beach, my local bodysurfing spot, where I hung out and perfected my bodysurfing style. Surf Rockin'!
Those boat launch clowns described by Swimmy are just plain clueless and in the wrong place to party.
SkiBumDude that showed up on Oahu back in the mid-70's, (nickname was "Space") was originally from Montana, but had moved to Idaho for the skiing, then arrived in the Islands wanting to surf. Rented a bungalow next door to my surf buddy, Bob, and we took Space up to the the North Shore and helped him learn the basics. He charged. No fear! Great entertainment watching him wipe out! We'd be on the beach watching him, RAOBL. But he eventually got the hang of it.
