Why doesn't Sage help families of slain Lakewoord officers?

Sage is in Washington, why don't they help the families like Fethastyx is doing? They could donate half of all profits for the next month. People go out of there way to buy from Sage to support a local business, Sage should give back.

Theoretically, you could say that about any business in any industry in the state, not just Sage.

100% agreed!

I think it's great what Fethastyx is doing and am impressed, but I don't think it's an expectation of ANY company to follow suite.
Probably the same reason you didn't give 1/2 your paycheck this month. They can't afford it. Most likely, people buy Sage because they produce a great product, not because it is made in WA. Sorry to be a bit of a dick, but that's a heavy load to drop at the feet of Sage.

seriously?
How do you know they don't? How much have you given to them or any charity? You don't have to answer as most people and companies don't advertise their charitable donations. Many do it because it is what they do and not for the publicity. I often question the companies that promote events or donations as it is a shameless way they use to promote themselves.

RogueRiverBrat,

Sage does give back. Sage should not be dissed like this.

If you really wanted to know the answer to your question, you could call them up and ask, rather then make this some online stink about what they are "not doing".
Maybe they would do something public like Fethastyx or maybe they might just cut a check, maybe they already have and are not makeing some PR issue out of it?

How about a bigger question? Did you donate any money to the cause?
If not, then you don't have a rock to stand on in this river.

While it is a very nice gesture, it is convenient for Fethastyx to do this promotion as it conforms to their already exisiting "True Hero" product line. While that product line is a neat idea, it is not fly fishing related and has a business angle (no pun intended). They are not making all of these rods for free. The rods price from $125 to $185 retail. Sage's rods retail price point is higher. So it is apples and oranges to compare. Additionally, Fethastyx does not manufacture their own rod blanks, they buy them and assemble their products to their own specs, this is an example of how these companies are very different in how they operate and do business.

Sage has been a very generous company and have supported lots of causes such as the pebble mine fight. Here is a link to Sage's company initiatives http://www.sageflyfish.com/Conservation/Initiatives/

I make this comment as someone who has purchased several custom Fethastyx fly fishing rods, which by the way, have SAGE blanks!

what a naive statement to make. lol. really, why don't you and your family donate half your paychecks?
I'm sorry for being so blunt, but that is the stupidest question I've heard in a long time, particularly from someone on Oregon...:hmmm:
So what in the hell is Sage, a Washington company, doing spending money to affect Alaska politics? They are spending lots of money to dominate the unknown will of the voters of Alaska. What if the majority of Alaskans want that mine?

TIC for the present, but anti-hunting initiatives in Alaska have cost millions more than they should due to outside money which could have been better spent on almost anything to improve habitat, resources, you name it...
It's been a long day. It's going to be an even longer night. Going to treat myself to a beer and closing this thread down.
