I drove down the canyon this afternoon. A lot of the ice has moved out. There is an open channel to below Mahre's. But the ice buildup on the bank is up to five feet thick in the lower canyon. the pictures are of the Big Pine launch, Mahre's launch, and just above the Mile Post 10 launch
There is wading access above Red's and several people were cooling their toes.

From the Miracle Mile, which is Mile post 11 or so, to Llumma the river is 80% ice free with some ice on edges and on Fri. afternoon there was a shelf all the way across both below and above Llumma that should have been gone Sat. MP 10 and below has all the ice flows from upriver stacked up on top of itself. Red's and Evening Hatch were reporting good to go Sat. with warning from Reds about boat launches, and both, stay above the stacked flows on the lower river.

Looks like until the rivers come back in to shape (thaw out or come down) that lakes are the only option for the next couple of weeks or so, barring another big freeze or pineapple express. It's either lakes or the tying bench.
