Hi,

I'm looking for decent Steelhead fishing options this winter and I'm thinking about fishing the Skykomish. Please can anyone offer some advice for the best places to fish and what flies to use etc. I'm looking for safe bank/wade fishing options.

Hi fred i saw 5 steelhead from 5 to 10 pounds in 3 to 6 feet
of water on the south fork of the skykomish river in the town of skykomish just above the bridge.I didn't have my steelhead gear so i couldn't catch any.I was coming back over stevens
pass after fishing dry falls lake caught a 20" bow over there
and when we stoped for lunch we spotted 5 steelies and i am
positive they were steelies because you could see the red stripe
on em.Caught my first steelie on the peninsula in august 23"
buck, put up quite a fight on my steelhead setup.GOOD LUCK

Oh yeah water is low and clear and wadeable if i was wanting
to chase steelhead i would go fish the sky right now in the upper river for summer steelies.:jj

How long do the summer run steelhead stay in the system and when does the season end?

The summer steelies stay in the river through at least november
and the south fork of the skykomish from the mouth to 600' feet below sunset falls fishway are open from june 1 thru febuary 28. From sunset falls upstream is open from june 1 thru
november 30. THE RIVER IS OPEN , THE FISH ARE THERE.

I walked past the sultan by some shaded walking speed water and heard irregular fishy splashing at random intervals, I didn't see anything though. I wonder...

In my opinion, catching hatchery steelhead is as exciting as kissing your sister.

For clarification, that's not a hot step sister..
