Beautiful flies. This style produces the overall appearance of a spey fly, but easier and probably with less expense for spey hackles.
Thanks. That was kind of the idea, I was definitely trying to maximize the amount of profile I could get from a dyed pheasant rump. I basically used a rooster hackle followed by a pheasant feather followed by longer stacked fibers such as rhea, or in this case scarlet macaw (friend has one in his aviary that molted, this is humanely non commercially sourced). I'm pleased with the result, the colors really come alive in the water.Beautiful flies. I like em', might have to use them for inspiration. You still on the dry side?View attachment 127728 View attachment 127729 Came up with these at the vise over the last few days. I wanted a classic looking two stage hackle fly, and was inspired by Dec Hogan's coastal prawn. They're tied on McNeese size 1's, I'm hoping they'll catch a few this winter.
Thanks Chris! I just recently moved to Port Angeles, still kinda dry I guess, at least compared to what's an hour west of here.I like em', might have to use them for inspiration. You still on the dry side?
