Noticed that some of the fly fishing TV shows are featuring Wooley Buggers with rubber tails. The tails look much like those used by the Bass guys. Blackleing up Wooley Buggers with rubber tails does not yield much. That said, have any here built some of these bugs? Love to hear about results, recipes, type and where to get rubber, etc.

Is the rubber vegan? I like the idea of milking the life force of a tree rather than killing a squirrel just for the tail.

You get a lot of movement from those tails, so much that I think you need to use with a swivel to keep your leader from getting all twisted up

I've tied and bought some patterns for bonefish/permit with rubber incorporated in that looked bassish. I did do well with one of the patterns at the Ford.

You say that you've never heard a tree scream? Dang squirrels are just like rats with furry tails who live in trees. Maybe its the squirrels that drive the trees to screaming, huh? You'd scream too, if something was biting your nuts. Bet you never thought of that! I've been seriously considering gettin' me a 22LR/410 over and under.

A work of art, for sure. Looks like it would be very effective.
Tell me...are all those soft plastic tails now made from a biodegradable, non-toxic, environmentally proper compound? If not, then why not? Seems like it should be mandatory.

That fly was for a BC fly swap. A guy up there kept calling me a worm dunker.... so I tied that one up. Yeah, it's biodegradable if you keep it in your stomach long enough.

This would probably work better off a spinning rod. It looks like a lure. I don't think you could use it in Fly Only waters.

Slow rolla tails.

This would probably work better off a spinning rod. It looks like a lure. I don't think you could use it in Fly Only waters.

Plus, that looks to be a heavy fly. Heavy enough to cast on a spinning rod.

I know they use flies like these for sea trout in Scandinavia. I'd love to try some when I get back to tying more. I like catching fish, not defining fly fishing.

Feather, fur, or hair tail = fly.

The twister tails work great for bass , pike and stripers. But I have been known to use rattles and pork rind on my flies too
