Hey all,
I made a slight geographical error in my last message. The creek mouth I fish is not Purdy creek on the Skokomish. It's a smaller one up near the forks. Unfortunately, I found Purdy creek..................
When I arrived at the mouth of Purdy creek there were probably close to two hundred people. Most of those people were commenced in the act of snagging salmon. They were snagging as individuals and as teams. There were guys in trees directing large weighted hooks to resting salmon and there were guys scrambling down the banks of Purdy creek itsself to snag salmon in what was supposed to be thier "safety zone". They were trying to snag Sea-run cutthroat and were jerking thier hooks at smolt. They were snagging the brush, the trees, the rocks, and ya know what?? they were snagging themselves. And from what I heard they were snagging all the way to Hoodsport. Had the the WDFW actually showed up there'd been an all out stampede of drunken ******** and idiots of all sorts and kinds in an attempt to protect thier Zebco "Fish-N-Fun" kits from the marauding hands of cosequence.
This was my first experience in "combat" fishing conditions.
..........wow

That sounds horrible- I have encountered similar situations but not as extreme... somebody should notify WDFW so they could get the wardens down there. Its crap like what you described that made me stop slamon fishing in washington.

What a bunch of crap!!! I called WDFW and they said the gave out 50 tickets in the area the other day. Admittely, they are thinly staffed and have be devoting a lot of time in the salt water, but at least they're making an effort.
