I noticed their are a couple of rod builders placing guides on rods and wrapping them with a carbon cloth material...no thread wrapping on the guides. Guides are placed on the rod and the wrapped with a single layer of carbon cloth material and finished. This was news to me...have any of you experienced any of these rods? Supposedly lighter and leaves a more true flex of the rod. Interesting is all I can say as of now.

I've seen the threadless guide wraps but don't have any first hand experience on how they set up a rod better or worse. I don't think they'd hold up to the beatings I give my rods. . .my Forhan lock-wrapped guides barely do and I think it'd be less than a high fidelity wrap in comparison. I don't prefer how they look either, but that's just me. I'll keep using thread on my guides. My .02 only,
