Looking to buy a reel for a backup to my G3. Have a lot of extra spools and another reel would enable me to keep mulitple rods rigged.

Must be in at least decent condition.

I can vouch for the condition of Tony's reels as I have seen them and even bought one with a spool. However, I believe the one I bought was a post 98 model. I can never remember how to tell the difference. I believe it is the number of holes on the backside. Five holes is pre-98 and many more than 5 is post-98. Did I get that right?
