Hi all,

I'm looking for a used stripping basket.

Shoot me an email with your offer.
Thanks,
Ben

Really tough to beat the Orvis for what it does. Holds line. Rigid. Cones in bottom aids shooting tangle free long lines and that $25 coupon makes it a no brainer. LineKurv of Denmark makes one that I got ahold of, I like it alot. Sells for about $45 US but shipping will put it over the price of an Orvis basket. I got lucky and found one in a promotion and got free shipping. For the money, go see Leland. With a coupon you'll get that stripping basket for less than the cost of some of the mesh versions that don't work as well, IMHO.

MRFC is selling a Loon collapsible on sale for $20. Can't attest to how well it works, but the design appears to be somewhere in between the Willy J style mesh bucket and the rigid plastic Orvis style basket. Maybe others know.

The mesh ones work ok but if you have a lot of line in it make sure it's not turning in tight loops, tangles suck. W Joseph has one that's pretty affordable($40).

I went and checked out their website for grins. The price was listed as 50.83USD (40.66USD) and includes a belt and shipping. Not quite sure what the price in the parentheses is.

So it looks like the Ovis coupon will get you a stripping basket for half the price.

And Leland ususally has a stack of them nested nicely in the shop in Bellevue. I said it was tough to beat!

My advice: get an Orvis ridgid basket. There are none better and many are clearly worse. If you can't get one used, then get a coupon an buy a new one at half price. If you are serious about fishing the salt, you will probably have regrets if you buy something other than an Orvis basket.

Where is this coupon? I get emails all the time from Orvis, but I didn't get this one.
