WDFW has been planning not to open Yakima River for Spring Chinook. The return of 4s is expected to be low because of low flows in 2001 and poor jack returns. But the number of unique pit tag detections at Bonneville this year and the count at Prosser at at least 46 through April 8 strongly indicate a better than predicted run. We just don't know at what point WDFW will be convinced to change their minds.
