Another variation on the Quigley; none are too challenging, all can be effective. Tied here as a PMD; change color/size to suit your needs.
hook - Dai Riki 320 #16
thread - Danville 6/0 pale yellow
rib - x-small wire copper
abdomen - pheasant tail
shuck/shellback - Zelon brown
thorax - dubbing pale yellow
wing - deer hair bleached
hackle - ginger
mash barb, start thread; tie in rib, wrap to point above barb
tie in PT, wrap to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim
tie in Zelon
pull to rear, capture with rib, continue forward, helicopter end, cover with thread; trim shuck (gap width past bend)
dub thread/dub thorax
clean, stack, measure (shank length) a clump of deer hair; tie in, flare butts against thorax
tie in hackle; wrap to eye, tie off/trim, take a few wraps in front of wing to prop it up
half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim wing butts even with rear of thorax
