Anyone have any experience making wading shoes? I have some old shoes that I was thinking about glueing on some felt and giving them a try. It is hard for me to justify dropping more money on new shoes right now.

I recommend something with a lot of room, that has plenty of ankle support.
This right here is key for me. If the boot doesn't have solid ankle support, I won't go anywhere near it. Having broke my ankles too many times in sports, I need all the help I can get.

On a side note, my grandfather made his own wading boots all the time back in the day. Just took an old pair of hiking boots, took a grinder to the tread, glued on some felt or even some old strips of carpet and was good to go.

As usual, Freestone, you have the friendly & rational response to a dilemma! I have an old pair of cheapies that I usually use only in the salt in size 11 - I did use them the other day in fresh water tho so they should be well rinsed by now. Forgot to look 'n see where he is located so guess he'll hafta' PM me if he wants them!
